The Surgical Treatment of Left Ventricle Aneurysm; Patch Repair Versus Conventional Closure.

Summary: Between January 1994-October 1995, 62 patients underwent surgical procedure for the treatment of left ventricle aneurysm. Mean age was 61±3.5 years. 15 cases had simple plication, 26 underwent linear repair (Group 1) and 21 had circular patch repair (DOR plasty) Group 2). The early mortality was 4.8% in the whole group. Patients in Group 2 needed less inotropic support and showed less incidence of arrhyhmias. The mean functional class (NYHA) and LVEF was improved in both groups 12 months after the operations, however the improvement was more significant in the DOR repair group (p
